The ceremony was attended by President Julius Maada Bio, who delivered an address highlighting the project's significance for the community's development.
The Marampa Mines, situated in the Port Loko District of Sierra Leone, is operated by the Gerald Group and the Government of Sierra Leone. This site boasts substantial iron ore reserves estimated at approximately 1.7 billion tons and is designed to produce 3.75MTPA of iron concentrate. Key equipment for the operation includes a PXZ50-65III gyratory crusher, a 7.2 MW SAG mill, and a CSM-1600 vertical stirred mill, all engineered and installed under the expertise of CITIC Heavy Industries. Notably, the SAG mill represents the largest single equipment size achieved in Sierra Leone to date.
